The gym was probably the busiest it got every season, what with all kinds of new customers embarking on their fitness journeys in preparation for new year’s resolutions. Andres didn’t mind it, finding it easier and easier to get clients hooked on his free trial classes. The only thing really limiting his hours as a personal trainer was time. He manned the front desk, while his coworker was on break while adjusting a schedule of his own. Juggling class time, and sessions was a little bit tricky, and he preferred to have the most up to date written copy he could. Just in case he could find someone to pay him before they decided against it.

As he scribbled down some names and times, he noted immediately when a new customer walked in. They were unfamiliar to him, and he was pretty sure they dind’t have a customer like this. Well, maybe his coworker knew them. But Andres was at the gym at weird enough hours that he was confident they were new. Well, whatever. He flashed the man a broad grin before waving from his chair. “Welcome! Are you a returning guest?” he asked before introducing himself. “I’m Andres, one of the personal trainers at this gym. Let me know if you have any questions, ok?”

Dom almost felt bad for coming in during the busy season. Certainly, the trainers and staff were already swamped with the sheer number of people who inevitably would try to start a workout regimen this time of year. But he'd been away from the gym too long and it was starting to make him feel lazy. No amount of jogging through the woods or chopping wood would replace a good day at the gym.[break][break]

The person behind the desk gave him a grin and a wave, and Dom redirected his path to head that way. He gave a grin of his own, placing his hands on the edge of the front desk.[break][break]

"Hey, Andres. I'm new here, actually," he said, scanning the reception area. "New to Hoenn, too. I had a dope gym I used to go to back in Kanto, but I can't exactly make day trips back there now. Oh, I'm Dominic, by the way. I was hoping to find a new regular gym and I heard good things about this place."

“Ay, nice to meet you then Dominic.” He said, happy as the guy matched his energy. Usually, it took him a bit of coaxing to get the new people to talk to him. “Glad our reputation precedes us. The owner’ll be happy to hear that.” He said. The woman in question, his boss, was a rather competitive woman and was constantly thinking of ways to bring more and more business to the place. “All the way from Kanto? What brings you to Hoenn?” he asked as pulled out a quick pamphlet to show Dominic, preparing his little gym spiel. “This gym IS dope though. It’s open 24/7, near the metro, sponsors a bunch of classes meal prepping.” He said as he pointed out a couple of boxes on his little sheet. “Got a jacuzzi to get in those quick hot baths, my personal favorite.” He added.

Dom gave a sheepish grin when Andres asked what had brought him to Hoenn. Even though he'd been in the region for a few months already, he still hadn't quite prepared a decent answer. And it seemed like everyone was curious. At least politely so.[break][break]

"Oh, uh, I'm a Ranger, actually. I like learning about new Pokemon and the best way to do that is travel." Only a half-lie, but even so he felt bad. He refocused on the pamphlet, glad to have something to change the subject to. "Ooh, 24/7," he said. His schedule was so variable that he almost had to pick a place that was always open. "Gotta get the reps in where you can." He grinned up at Andres. "Jacuzzi's are nice, too. Work takes me up to Lavaridge sometimes, but not nearly often enough."

Andres nodded. "Oooh Ranger huh? Guess they're recruiting program is working." he said with a knowing laugh. There'd been couple of attempts at revitalizing rangers as a viable career on tv and radio, but it seemed the organization as a whole was still struggling. Then again, Hoenn rangers were probably a different breed than other regions with all the bullshit they had to deal with. [break][break]

"Eeeexactly. You sign up, we give you a key tag, boom. Instant access anytime. The help desk has regular hours though." he said tapping a sign that showed said hours. "Lavaridge is dope. Met a date up there once or twice." he said wit ha knowing nod. "You can't compete with the real thing, but you can try. The owner keeps a stock of these bath salts made from the stuff that gets left over in the hot springs out west. Smells just like 'em." Another, gimmick that the owner had included after last summer's rush to the hot springs. "I should mention, when you sign up you get a couple of free classes to try 'em out. You know, if you were interested in yoga or kickboxing."

He grinned half-heartedly but didn't make any move to explain. Sure, the recruiting was working just fine, if "recruiting" meant "taking in Rangers who were fleeing Rocket-controlled territory for their personal safety". Same thing, really.[break][break]

Dom nodded along to Andres' explanation, grinning. "Bath salts and free classes? I was already plannin' on signing up, bro, you don't have to sell me any harder," he said with a laugh. "You said you're a personal trainer, yeah? Which classes do you teach?" He had to admit that kickboxing sounded cool, but yoga was probably more useful to his lifestyle. There was a lot that could go wrong with your body if you didn't keep up on your flexibility, especially when it came to lifting and hiking. Living out in the wilderness meant he had to stay in tip-top shape, even if it didn't sound as badass.
